Crossing the ancient burial mounds, the hobbits are ensnared by a Barrow-wight. Tom Bombadil rescues them again. In the wight's hoard, they find Dúnedain swords forged to fight Angmar — it is Merry's blade that later helps slay the Witch-king at the Pelennor Fields.
