Tom Bombadil's House
The Master of the Forest
Rescued from Old Man Willow by Tom Bombadil, the hobbits spend two nights in his ancient house on the banks of the Withywindle with his wife Goldberry. Tom is the oldest living being in Middle-earth, bound to no master and untouched by the Ring — it has no power over him. He teaches the hobbits a call for help before sending them on their way across the Barrow-downs.
