Celebdil, the Silvertine (Zirakzigil in Khuzdul), is the westernmost of the three peaks above Moria. At its summit stands Durin’s Tower, carved in the living rock and reached by the Endless Stair spiralling up from the deepest foundations of Khazad-dûm. After falling from the Bridge, Gandalf pursues the Balrog up the Endless Stair to this peak. For two days they battle on the mountainside until Gandalf throws down the Balrog, shattering the tower and the mountainside where he fell. Gandalf himself passes away on the peak before being sent back as the White.
