With a Morgul wound slowly claiming his life, Frodo races on Glorfindel's horse Asfaloth toward the Ford of Bruinen, the last crossing before Rivendell. The Nine Nazgûl pursue him to the river's edge. As they enter the water, Elrond unleashes the river in a great flood shaped as white horses, sweeping the Black Riders away and breaking their pursuit at last.
