Gap of Rohan
The wide pass between the southern end of the Misty Mountains and the northern end of the White Mountains, the Gap of Rohan was the only major land route between Eriador and Gondor that avoided mountain crossings. Saruman's control of Isengard at its northern end made the Gap a contested corridor throughout the War of the Ring.
