Orthanc
The Voice of Saruman
After the flooding of Isengard, Gandalf and the company confront Saruman atop the tower of Orthanc. Saruman attempts to sway them with his persuasive voice but is broken by Gandalf, who casts him from the order. Gríma Wormtongue hurls the palantír of Orthanc from the tower. That night Pippin steals a look into the seeing-stone and is seen by Sauron — forcing Gandalf to ride at once to Minas Tirith with Pippin.
