Northern Waste
Forodwaith
The vast frozen wasteland of Forodwaith stretched across the entire far north of Middle-earth. In the First Age it lay in the shadow of Morgoth's fortress of Angband, and an unnatural cold lingered long after his defeat. Few dared enter these lands — only the Lossoth (Snowmen of Forochel) survived on its western fringes. Dragons bred in the Withered Heath on its southern border, and the remnants of Morgoth's Iron Mountains may have endured in the furthest north.
