Framsburg was the chief settlement of the Éothéod, the horse-lords who were ancestors of the Rohirrim. It stood in the far north between the Grey Mountains and the upper vales of the Anduin, and was named after Fram son of Frumgar, who slew the great cold-drake Scatha and claimed its hoard — sparking a bitter quarrel with the Dwarves, who held the treasure was theirs. In TA 2510, Eorl the Young led the entire Éothéod south from here to answer Gondor's call at the Field of Celebrant. They never returned north; Framsburg was abandoned when they settled in Calenardhon, the land that became Rohan.
