Frodo and Sam, hiding nearby, witness the skirmish and Sam reflects on the humanity of a fallen Southron warrior. Afterwards Faramir’s men seize the two hobbits and blindfold them for the journey to the hidden refuge of Henneth Annûn. Gollum slips away into a pool.
