The iron fortress of Carn Dûm was the capital of Angmar, the realm the Witch-king founded around TA 1300 with the sole purpose of destroying the Dúnedain of the North. For nearly 700 years, Angmar waged war against the successor kingdoms of Arnor, eventually destroying all three.
