Mount Gram
Goblins of the North
An Orc stronghold in the northern Misty Mountains. In TA 2747, a goblin army under chieftain Golfimbul marched from Mount Gram and invaded the Shire. Bandobras ‘Bullroarer’ Took, the tallest hobbit ever to live and big enough to ride a horse, led the defence at the Battle of Greenfields and knocked Golfimbul's head clean off with a club. It sailed through the air and down a rabbit hole, thus (according to hobbit legend) inventing the game of golf. It was the only battle fought inside the Shire before the Scouring of the Shire.
