The Iron Hills were a Dwarven stronghold east of Erebor, ruled by Dáin Ironfoot of Durin's line. When word reached him of Thorin's reclaiming of Erebor, Dáin marched with 500 Dwarves and arrived just in time for the Battle of Five Armies. After Thorin's death, Dáin became King under the Mountain.
