The fords across the River Poros marked the southern boundary of Gondor. In TA 2885, Haradrim invaded in force across the crossing. Steward Túrin II called on Rohan for aid, and King Folcwine sent his twin sons Fastred and Folcred south to honour the Oath of Eorl. Gondor won the battle, but both twins were slain. Túrin built the Haudh in Gwanûr, the Mound of the Twins, on the battlefield — and the enemy did not cross the Poros again for nearly a century.
