Khand is a little-known land southeast of Mordor, home to the Variags — a fierce warrior people under Sauron’s dominion. The Variags marched to war alongside the Haradrim and Easterlings at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Tolkien reveals almost nothing else of their culture or history, leaving Khand one of the most mysterious regions on the map of Middle-earth.
