The Grey Havens
Mithlond · Departure to the West
MithlondSecond Age 1
Founded by Círdan the Shipwright after the War of Wrath destroyed Beleriand, the Grey Havens became the chief port from which the Elves departed Middle-earth for the Undying Lands. It was from here that Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, Galadriel, and Elrond sailed at the end of the Third Age.

Departure to the WestThird Age 3021
At the Grey Havens, Frodo, Bilbo, Gandalf, Galadriel, and Elrond board the last ship sailing into the West. Sam, Merry, and Pippin ride with them to the shore, then watch the white ship pass out of sight beyond the evening star. Frodo, as a Ring-bearer, is granted passage to the Undying Lands — the only mortal hobbit ever to make the crossing. Sam returns to Bag End and to Rose, and his family, and the life he helped to save.
