The Blue Mountains housed the great Dwarven cities of Nogrod and Belegost in the First Age. The Dwarves of Nogrod crafted the Nauglamír and later sacked Doriath to reclaim it. After the ruin of Beleriand, many Dwarves migrated east to Khazad-dûm.
