Cuiviénen
Awakening of the Elves
Cuiviénen, the Water of Awakening, was a bay on the shores of the great inland Sea of Helcar in the far east of Middle-earth. Here the first Elves awoke under starlight, long before the rising of the Sun and Moon. The Valar discovered them and summoned them westward on the Great Journey to Valinor — though some refused the call and remained, becoming the Avari, the Unwilling.
