Lond Daer
Great Haven of the Númenóreans
Lond Daer Enedh, the Great Middle Haven, was the first major Númenórean harbour in Middle-earth. Founded by Tar-Aldarion as Vinyalondë around SA 800 at the mouth of the River Gwathló (Greyflood), it served as a shipbuilding port that consumed the vast forests of Enedwaith and Minhiriath on an enormous scale. This deforestation earned the lasting hatred of the native peoples, who retreated into refuges like Eryn Vorn. The haven remained important through the Second Age but declined after the Downfall of Númenor and lay in ruins by the Third Age.
